Buenos Aires, February 2 (NA) – Tax collection confirmed an economic cooling in January, according to data reported by the Revenue and Customs Control Agency (ARCA). Tax collection showed a real year-on-year variation of -7.8%, while the portion going to the provinces and the City of Buenos Aires (CABA) had a negative variation of -6.6%, and the total decrease was -7.4%, according to calculations by the Iaraf institute, as learned by the Argentine News Agency. In January, the Treasury received 18.33 trillion pesos, representing a nominal increase of 22% compared to January 2025. Additionally, there was a decrease for the sixth consecutive month when adjusted for inflation. “The year-on-year variation in the last month continued to be affected by the suspension of export duties and reduction of tariffs on imports, along with the reduction of Internal Taxes,” indicated ARCA. For the Value Added Tax (VAT), 6.2 trillion pesos were collected, with a nominal improvement of 16.4%. Meanwhile, the Income Tax contributed 3.4 trillion pesos, with a nominal increase of 32.4%, which implies in real terms almost the same amount as last year. The Tax on Bank Credits and Debits also showed stagnation in real terms. It rose 31.9% nominally, to 1.4 trillion pesos. Meanwhile, at ANSES, the growth of income received by the Social Security System also remained below the annual inflation rate: it was 27.7%, broken down into a 26% increase from Personal Contributions; 27.9% from Employer Contributions; and 47.3% from Other Incomes.
